'‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions, and your old men will dream dreams. ' Acts of the Apostles 2:17

I had an interesting dream the other night. I dreamed I was at the new house God recently allowed us to purchase. I was about 1/2 block away and my wife and my dog were in the driveway doing something with the car. I noticed a skunk walking by (couldn't miss the smell) and my first thought was "oh no! that skunk is not going to like me being here and this could get bad really fast". The skunk moved on, not caring about me, and I quickly came to the realization that it was not "all about me". However, I now noticed it was headed straight towards my wife and the dog. I knew there was NO WAY the dog would ignore it, and disaster was going to occur for sure! As I tried to yell a warning, the skunk scurried off into the woods and this is when I noticed the BEAR watching my wife and dog from the woods just a few feet (maybe 50') away looking for an opportunity to cause a problem. The concern about the skunk melted away as I was now seriously concerned about the danger of the bear lurking that close to my wife and dog. At this time the bear spotted the skunk and the distraction caused the bear to lumber off in the direction of the skunk. This is when I woke up.

I thought, what an odd dream! I wonder if God uses dreams today to tell us things. As I pondered this, I felt this in my spirit.

Sometimes we worry about small inconveniences (The skunk), that surround us, not recognizing they are there to protect us from the real enemy (the Bear) that is considering a specific attack. These little inconveniences are actually not going to hurt us as all but while we wasted time worrying about it, the real dangers are in God's hands. His protection is often seen AFTER the perceived problem has long passes us by. The worry and anxiety I had over both the skunk and then the bear was unfounded and resulted in nothing except to distract me from the joy of God's gifts to me. I was worried about things around me that were not in my control, rather than resting in the peace of God's goodness.

'For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. ' Ephesians 6:12

It is great to know that the "unseen authorities" that we battle against are nothing compared to the power of our God who watches over us. What is meant to harm us has no authority when compared to the power of the almighty King. As His child, we have nothing to fear for He has us covered!

"He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection." Psalms 91:4 NLT

Heavenly father, Lord over all creation,
I am grateful that you are a good father. That as a child of the King, I am under the protection that You grant me on a daily basis. I am grateful for Your faithful promises; that You cover me with your feathers and always protect me from harm both seen and unseen. Your majesty abounds and Your power exceeds all that may come against me today. I put my trust in You and seek that my heart be aligned with Yours, resting in the peace that You are always in control. Amen
