Overwhelmed and over your head? “Do not fear”

1/22/20252 min read

“My enemies, whom I have never harmed, hunted me down like a bird. They threw me into a pit and dropped stones on me. The water rose over my head, and I cried out, “This is the end!” But I called on your name, Lord, from deep within the pit. You heard me when I cried, “Listen to my pleading! Hear my cry for help!” Yes, you came when I called; you told me, “Do not fear.””

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3‬:‭52‬-‭57‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Have you ever been in a position where it seemed like you have reached the end of rope? That the “water rose over your head” and you felt like “this is the end”?

Maybe this is where you are today. It is never to late to call out to God and ask for help. As you turn your face to God and put your eyes on Jesus, your situation becomes less formidable as He says “Do not fear”. The peace you find in those situations only comes from the time you spend focused on Him.

The enemy wants you to live in fear. The voice in your ear that says “all is lost, there is no hope now” comes from the lies of satan himself, looking to destroy you. If you have given your life to Christ, there is no power greater than He that is in you. Turn your eyes on Jesus, read your bible and seek to know Him. As you seek Him, you will find Him (Jer 29:13-14) and His power will fill your life with joy and peace, even in the midst of your battle. He will come to your defense (Lamentations 2:58) and will be your advocate in the situation you find yourself in.

Prayer for today

God of the heavens, Creator of all life, I thank You for being my advocate in times of trouble. I thank You for standing with me and giving me peace when I am at the bottom of the pit. When life overwhelms me, You give me peace when I put my eyes on You. As I live this day, may Your peace remind me that You are with me and may I speak of Your goodness throughout my day, giving glory to You in everything I do. Let the Light of Jesus show in me today as I walk in Your will, recognizing Your presence in every situation. All glory to the one true King, forever and ever, Amen
